* Review and recommend changes to existing data models to ensure best performance
* Review top queries (by execution time and/or frequency of occurrence) and help developers optimize performance; implement indexes on critical and/or underperforming databases
* Prepare a plan for upgrading to PostgreSQL 8.4 and a plan for implementing replication (if not actually executing this plan itself)
* Provide strategic recommendations for whether PostgreSQL is a suitable database platform
* Supply recommendations for backup, recovery and business continuity products/strategies
* Inform migration planning to move our MoveableType4 environment to our Oracle db server

2) Cobol PRO * C developer with experience in the JDBC with Oracle databases

Resource required for a part time basis. Our customer had turnover with their lead developer. There is a knowledge gap and they need someone to support the knowledge transfer.

4) resource should have experience with Banner upgrades in an HP UNIX environment.

1. A DBA with Banner upgrade experience - This includes UTF8 (unicode), database conversion, review access control for the system, performance tuning of the database and batch processes, database cloning, encryption. They would be more of advising and backfill as the client staff will do the majority of the work since they will be doing the upgrade but would like an external dba to focus on the tuning.
a. Create a seed-instance of Banner 8 database
b. Perform Unicode conversion of database
c. Review access control and Banner-Oracle home design and configuration
d. Ensure valid list and use of required compilers and pre-compilers
e. Create Development and Test instances of Banner database including GBC custom add-ons
f. Performance tuning of Banner database
g. Performance tuning of heavy batch processes
h. Resolve encryption related issues
